Drake ft. Trey Songz: Successful Video Preview

Thursday, August 27, 2009 0 comments

We all know about the big fat uproar over the Best I Ever Had video (eyeroll to all you haters out there), but I definitely dont see any negativity coming in for this one. HOWEVER, what I really want is crea-effin-tivity. Get So-Me, Kanye and Va$tie in a room and let them think something up. That's what I want.

Kid Cudi: Follow Me & That Girl

So as I listen to Cudi more and more each day...I'm starting to take down the label of "Favorite Rapper" and its moving into the realm of "Favorite Artist". However, he's not my favorite artist as yet lol. But he's definitely up there. I can never stop applauding him for his boldness. And by boldness, I dont mean singing. His sincerity, his...everything. I love it. And right now I cant even see him as a rapper anymore. I see him as an artist that raps when he needs to or sings when he needs to or does that in-between thing when the mood calls for it lol. And that, I respect.

With all that ish said...

RichGirl Now Owns Me

Wednesday, August 19, 2009 0 comments

Now...we all know that LO and I are EXTREME Danity Kane fans (when they existed). And then we found Electrik Red and we were like YASSSS! However, Electrik Red is VERY different from DK and they're in their own lane. Our void was still left unfulfilled. And then...RichGirl came along and stomped on our faces with "He Aint With Me Now". At first I was hesitant...and then BOOM! They took residence in my heart. Then LO woke me from my slumber ranting about RichGirl, I get on the computer and I see this...I'm sooooo in love. Let's just say, that void no longer exists. Their vocals REIGN SUPREME! *sigh* Thank God for this. Look out for them!

Rant ends here.

InRehab Style Feature: KID

Photobucket

Just by looking at Myspace pics, I can definitely come to the conclusion that KID is no follower. I can respect people that wear what they wear and listen to what they listen to, etc., simply because they like it. Not because its a trend or a fad and not so they can say "I got this and this". This is something I really admire. Cause in a world where true innovation is unheard of, it's important to at least stay true to who we are. With all that out the way...KID has style. And on top of that, he can rap. Like RAP. You know when you see someone and you just know they're gonna be famous for...something? That's KID in my eyes. Look out for him.

InRehab: When did you first get into fashion?
KID: Haha shoot, ever since I could remember! Ever since I was small, I was always instructed to look clean & look nice for people in order to make them have a good impression towards myself. In comparison to a job interview, it works the same way. If you walk in there looking like a shit burger, it'll show through your personality! & throughout these years, I've continued to carry that same philosophy.

InRehab: Would you ever consider a career in fashion? What about music?
KID: Wow, people ask that constantly! As far as fashion goes, I was an inch away from dropping my own street clothing line, but due to our dumbass recession.. I was holding back. It's not the right time yet. & during the wait, I can have time to perfect ideas, visions, etc. If anything, I would LOVE to come up with a line that focuses on women. [Yall buy all the clothes!] haha.Music wise.. I stress it frequently.. This rap shit is just a hobby. I love rap mainly because you're able to express yourself through words. At the end of the day, being heard is my ONLY aim. If people can hear me and understand my concepts.. I can go to sleep feeling accomplished. It's COMPLETELY overwhelming to hear comments from people saying shit like "Pursue that talent, you're amazing, go for it" type shit. It makes me feel like Im on top of the world. & honestly.. respect is all I gun for & the shit I receive is MORE than I ever asked for. PLUS, like a bajillion zillion muh' fuckas wanna rap for no reason nowadays. lol.. what are my chances, you know? haha.

InRehab: Favorite designer/clothing line?
KID: EVERYONE! EVERYTHING! Comme des Garcon, Louis Vuitton, MCM, Gucci, YSL, Chanel, Hermes, Versace, D&G, Burberry, Fendi, Armani, Y-3, Dior, The Hundreds, Alife, Rocksmith, Phenomenon, Swagger, Lamar&Dauley.. just to name a few. LOL. My designers are basically the same people who designed the ones I named.. Marc Jacobs, Coco Chanel, Taz Arnold, Yohji Yamamoto, Miuccia Prada, Jeremy Scott, Tom Ford, Christian Audigier Rei Kawakubo, Alexander McQueen.. shit, EVERYONE! haha I respect EVERY SINGLE one of 'em. The clothing business is such a competitive field.. respect the grind.

InRehab: Favorite item of clothing/accessory?
KID: I've ALWAYS seemed to have my obsession for jewelry as a whole.. chains, watches, bracelets.. love em. & jeans too! [If you JUST started wearing skinny jeans because of the jerk movement & thought it was just the NEW NEW, COOL SHIT, fuck you. I've been doing it since you little muh' fuckas thought it was a joke.. & C'mon! Yall havent even paid tribute to the ones who lead the way for it in the 50's along with Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe & the bands in the 80's. Instead, you bow down to these muh' fuckas on TV that glamorized it. Do your homework.] Okay, Im good now.. had to get that off my chest. LOL

InRehab: Describe your style.
KID: Wow, my style is very... KID. haha I dont really know HOW to explain it. It's weird. It's strange. I wear what I wear depending on how im feeling that day. Im universal and diverse when it comes to style. One day you can see me dressed down.. White Armani collar long sleeve w/ a skinny tie & on another.. a New Era cap wit' some Supras. I dont stick to one particular style.. sometimes I see a group of kids dressed in some sneakers while im dressed in my Gucci & they laugh & cant comprehend that im shitting on 'em. LMAO, im JF.. my main point is.. I know what im capable of. People can think what they want. At the end of the day, Im just being me, which is my advice for everyone. Don't follow. Imitation is suicide. Dont become something you're not. Stay true to YOURSELF. "Fresh no longer exist"

InRehab Style Feature: Thee Mark

Photobucket

Mark is an impressive dude. Now...its a big deal when someone makes an impression on me. Ok, wear some nice jeans and a cool shirt, cool. But to make an actual impression on me, that's something else. This dude actually has a vision. A concept. A movement. And that I can really respect. Along with crazy cool style, he has a mind to match. I can definitely see him being a big deal.

InRehab: When did you first get into fashion?
Thee Mark: I don't know what into fashion is anymore since soo many people claim the wagon so to speak, but I sure know I began very young caring for what garments I wore since my parents brought my siblings and I into a well dressed background. So yeah I'd say the minute I spoke and learned how to decide which color was which I was there. Then I started learning patterns, bramds, and the history behind each piece.

InRehab: What/Whom influences your style?
Thee Mark: My father is big since he basically provided some of my older Yves saint things and the bally's I didn't see him much due to traveling ,but he made sure we were all well dressed. There's a lot more now, alber elbaz, lagerfeld, taz, idk I'd like to say myself. lol I push to be the best and I want to be like a style murderer.

InRehab: Favorite label/designer?
Thee Mark: Labels makes the world go round...It's a little hard now to like something since I'm getting into a realization that soo much of the world is based on branding and changing whats true into some made up name being printed in everything...A little too deep to get into with typing. But, if I must answer in simple words...Anyone that knows me I have a lot of pieces soo..bally,lanvin, chanel, gianni versace(the older stuff), fendi, ysl, yohji yamamoto idk I could go on and on...lol

InRehab: Tell us about Prmtve?
Thee Mark: Well originally we began as Primitive , but we got a few problems with the recent things that has happened keep in mind we were primitive too long ago. So, we decided to PRMTVE(No i's in team) but now we are slowly going through changes as we ended with what is now Passe'; french for "something that has been done"--it carries a big negative connotation in the word. But, we like it, we believe in it. Using a negative as a positive afterall our past isn't so pretty, but Passe represents the knowledge of our past and the idea that our society is formed from our past. but in reality we are a universal "movement" if you wanna put it that way it's a clothing, art, everything we can use our creativity in that focuses on having
An awareness of knowledge and the sociological construct is what I want for people to get out of us. Break the norms and the typical things we see in our everyday lives, be different "ITS COOL" lol. I mean it is to show our passion and love for art, knowledge, and fashion. But, I believe it's to bring back the quintessential artists in us. There's a lot of blogs and movements out there, but our true purpose is to just show growth and appreciation for what we love and do.

InRehab: Describe your style?
Thee Mark: If I was to describe my style...It's the compilation of different monumental eras in fashion house bunched together. It's the deeper side of clothes ...WE all have to be the best at what we do...and I work to inspire and find individualism...we all lack it somehow...

InRehab Style Feature: Marc Tillman

Yet another extremely stylish fellow I've met on Facebook. I really admire his style. There's a little bit of every style thrown in without being too overbearing. Simplistic without being boring. And really, anyone that can appreciate (and afford) a pair of Lanvin sneakers are cool in my book.

InRehab: When did you begin to get into fashion?
Marc T.: I was into fashion as early as 4yrs old..I remember crying and throwing tantrums because I insisted on dressing myself..and my mother wouldnt let me...as the years went on..i realized that dressing was more than just functional but a way of self expression..and I expressed myself every chance i got!

InRehab: Favorite designer/clothing line?
Marc T.: My favorite Designers are RAF SIMONS..I love his structured clothing and Hi top sneakers, and WRATH ARCANE , a small but innovative clothing line that originated in L.A., and more mainstream, I love LANVIN, a classic line.

InRehab: What's the story behind your tats of the Hundreds logo?
Marc T.: Well as you kno the hundreds symbol/logo is the cherry bomb..and thats how I feel most of the time, EXPLOSIVE! I am an extrovert and I think I have a very outgoing personality so in a way I think I am the BOMB, no pun intended. lol..but the main reason is I love the lifestyle of the hundreds. they are not a just a clothing line, but a cult. the life of being succesful, that is what I am aiming for!

InRehab: Favorite piece of clothing/accessory?
Marc T.: My favorite piece of clothing would have to be these slouchy pants from Henrick Vibscov a german brand and my YSL patent leather hi top sneakers..I wear those fuckin sneaks all the time like they are NIKES..lol

InRehab: Decribe your style?
Marc T.: I can describe my style in one word : INDECISIVE! I have no particular style..i may be hipster one day..the next day im urban luxury..I love dark colors..alot of blacks& greys; solid lines .. I love expensive street wear. I am a clothing JUNKY!

Thanks to Marc!

So the other day, I'm roaming my Facebook (which I rarely use lol) and i notice some fresh kid just stickin out. So I go through his pics, and I gotta say, I'm impressed. It's no secret that I'm a sucker for well dressed youngins. The fact that other young people appreciate fashion as much as I do is crazy cool to me. This is where Farnsworth comes in. He has a very versatile style, while staying classic. He agreed to do a feature for your's truly:

InRehab: When did you start to get into fashion?
FarnsJ.: To be honest since I was young. My parents had me in Jordans, Ralph, Fila all the hot brands back in the day, so It was kind of the norm to be fly.

InRehab:Favorite piece of clothing/accessory?

FarnsJ.:My favorite piece of clothing is My Jeremy Scott Rolls Royce sweater, and accessory is my PFrank solid gold watch, i wear it every day.

InRehab:How would you describe your style?
FarnsJ.:I would just say Im a charachter, because Mon. I will wear a complete Ralph look, Tues. I will wear grunge Wed. BBC Urban look. and so on. I think lifes too short to look the same way everyday, ya know. My aunt told me to always keep em' guessing lol

InRehab:Would you consider pursuing a career in fashion?
FarnsJ.:Definatley, Its a passion of mine but I know alot about the industry and Im not sure if im ready for that demand just yet, I mean im only 19 i need to live a little lol

InRehab: Who/Where do you get inspiration for your style?
FarnsJ.: I appreciate everyone's style, There could be a less fortunate man on the street and I will fancy after how he wears his parka, so any and everyone, I think fashion is all about being true to yourself and wearing what makes you feel good.

Make sure you hit his twitter up too: www.twitter.com/farnsworthjames

InRehab Interview: Kris Mars

Thursday, August 6, 2009 0 comments

A while back, I made a feature on Kris Mars. Along with talent, he's a super down to earth dude from what I've seen and I'm really liking what he's done so far. If you haven't done it yet, you definitely need to check this dude out. I could see him working perfectly with the Neptunes, and you know my high ass standards lol. He's a great breath of fresh air in hip-hop and music in general. So I caught up with him and he agreed to do an interview for us:

InRehab: How'd you get into rapping? Did you always know it was what you wanted to do it?
Kris Mars: well rapping came about because my older brother was a rapper and when i was like 8 i really was amazed by how cool and unique the culture was. so i started righting little poems and listening to alot of hip hop music. so by the time i had reached the 5th grade i started to write verses to instrumentals... naww actually b-ball was my main thing..but what people don't realize is that once i started really writing and rapping in the 5th grade i never stopped. i was still doing music but not as my main thing..but all my close friends told me if i really tried to do music full time then i could get big from it because of how good i was for my age...

InRehab: Where do you get your inspiration from?
Kris Mars: my inspiration is mostly natural. and what i mean by that is everything and anything that surrounds music in general no matter genre . im like automatically drawn to it..music to me is like a drug i just cant stop thinking about it or creating it.. i also am driven by the reaction that people give me when they listen to my music. and that is probably one of the main reason's i put so much thought and effort into my music, because being presentable is a key thing in my life so when i make music i always make sure its at least as perfect as i could make it..so im kind of a perfectionist.

InRehab: If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be and why?
Kris Mars: it would probably be sade because i grew up on her music. my mom would always be playing her music in the car..and the older i got the more i studied and listened to her..she represent everything i love about good music.. soothing, feel good, great story line, and her music creates a picture and scene for the listener...

InRehab: Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years?
Kris Mars: i see myself running the game and making music all over the world...

InRehab: What is the hip hop scene like where you're from and how does it effect your music?
Kris Mars: well hip hop is kinda dead out where im from due to the fact that everybody is making the same sounding music and copying each other...and everyone is afraid to jump out the box and make unique music... thats why some people might understand me because im not following anybody's footsteps and thats because im a real creator .. i could do regular rap and call it day but thats not changing anything in music..my job is to make people hear other sounds and different atmospheres when they listen to my music... musically what i believe is "why make a song if wont make a difference or bring something new to the worlds ears"

InRehab: If you could sign with any label right now, which label would you choose and why?
Kris Mars: well it would be G.O.O.D MUSIC or STAR TRAK.. those labels fit my style best and they understand real music....and i dont want to give away any secrets but there might be something getting ready to happen with KRIS MARS & G.O.O.D MUSIC..lol

InRehab: Who are some music artists that you're into right now?
Kris Mars: kid cudi, kanye west, n.e.r.d, dom kennedy "the illest west coast rapper to me", mr hudson, sade , prince, elton john, sa-ra ,bob marley and marvin gaye.

InRehab: What's the message you try to send with your music?
Kris Mars: creativity , peace, love , fun and opening young minds to different and new things in the world.

InRehab: What sets you and your music apart from other rappers coming up currently?
Kris Mars: well im not a rapper ima a music artist. and there's only 1 me. point blank.

You can view his myspace: here.
Big thanks to Kris for taking the time to do this interview

LMFAO! So because I dont care enough to follow the Eminem-Mariah beef, I haven't picked a side (and I really dont think anyone cares that much to be honest), but this was just hilarious. Beef in general is ridiculous, especially if it involves Mariah Carey. Glad to see other people find it as funny as I do lol.

Complex Mag: Kid Cudi Cover Story- Aug/Sept 09 Issue

Anyone that knows me (or has spoken to me for 10 minutes) knows that I'm an EXTREMELY avid fan of Mr. Scotty here. Seeing him blow up like this and covering one of my favorite mags is just amazing. I LOOOOVE what AUGOR did with this, it definitely fit. I read the whole interview (which I refuse to do for most other artists lol), and my fanaticism just grows and grows.

Do you consider yourself a weirdo?

Kid Cudi: “Weird” itself, even in the dictionary, is just something that is different and unexplainable. A weirdo is someone who follows their heart. I’m definitely weird, ain’t nothing wrong with that.

My sentiments exactly. You can read the rest (I recommend you do) here and watch the video here.
